Overview

Welcome to the Mobility 2035 website established by the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to provide a one stop source of accurate and timely information on the update process for the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).

By the year 2035, there will be over 600,000 more people in Bexar County. As our area grows and new jobs are created, our transportation needs increase as well. For this reason, the MPO is updating the MTP out to the year 2035. The MTP is a 25-year, long-range plan. It is used as a guide to plan for future transportation needs in the MPO study area, which includes Bexar County and parts of Comal and Guadalupe Counties, and is updated every five (5) years. The MTP also lists the expenditure of federal, state, and local funds that become available for these projects. To learn more about the MPO and the MTP, click here...

Good News!
We have received some good news on the environmental front. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has determined that the San Antonio Metropolitan area is in attainment of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Not only is this good news for the health of our community, but it means that Mobility 2035 can also breath a little easier because we are no longer faced with the sharp deadlines imposed on areas that are in non-attainment. This softening of federal deadlines allows us to return to our original schedule of completing the Mobility 2035 Plan by December of 2009. The extra time will allow us to take a more thorough and carefully considered look at our land use scenarios and our transportation strategies to insure that we develop the best possible metropolitan transportation plan for the San Antonio-Bexar County area.

Outcomes of the Visioning Process
This past fall, Mobility 2035 met with the public in a series of visioning workshops at locations around the San Antonio metropolitan area. The participants were asked broad open questions about their views on the measures that should be used to evaluate the Mobility 2035 Plan. The priorities communicated by the participants are being summarized and will be posted here by March 9th for your review and comment.
